ONE Voice Coalition

In 2007 the United Way of the Greater Seacoast applied for Strategic Prevention Framework grant. Upon receiving that grant, UWGS convened high level stake holders with and expertise in substance abuse prevention or a willingness to work on the development of a regional coalition.

The state of New Hampshire identified underage drinking and high risk drinking as its priorities for SPF. In doing so, the state wanted regional structures developed so that strategies could be implemented at the community level and activities would be carried forth by the community.

It is our belief that substance abuse is not an individual issue but rather a community issue that has multiple contributing factors that impact the individual and the community.

Fastforward to 2009 and the regional coalition is engaged in 17 partnerships that focus on enforcement, youth empowerment, family outreach and community coalition development.
